Missionary Sisters of
Mary Immaculate (MSMI)

The Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate (MSMI) is a women’s religious congregation founded by the late Msgr. C. J. Varkey on September 8, 1962, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, inspired by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The congregation is actively engaged in various apostolates across twenty-five dioceses in India, as well as in dioceses in Germany, Italy, and the United States, with the mission of spreading the Kingdom of God.

The MSMI Sisters dedicate their charism primarily to the Family Apostolate, with special emphasis on retreats, counseling, and teaching Catechism (CCD) to children and adults. They focus on nurturing and supporting families, young children, women, and adults by offering spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and faith formation, helping them grow in their relationship with God and in overall well-being.

We are blessed to have an MSMI convent in Tampa with four Sisters: Sr. Mesmine Mathew, Sr. Sancta Maria, Sr. Philo Jose, and Sr. Salomi Sebastian. The Sisters play a vital role in our parish community. Through their spiritual guidance, support during Holy Mass, and dedication to youth formation—including Holy Communion preparation, altar server training, and CCD instruction—they significantly strengthen our faith community. Serving also as Eucharistic Ministers and sacristans, they enrich and support the liturgical life of the Church.
